The disc is a top-view ball. DualAngle uses a 4.25″ radius; markers clamp to the sphere (0.12″ pad, CG uses 0.4″). Grid snap rounds coordinates to ¼″. Pin-to-MB construction length is 3.375″. Locked core markers: Pin, CG, MB, PAP, Thumb, Middle finger, Ring finger. Palette (unlocked extras): Balance hole, Flare ring, Oil line.
Sliders: Pin-to-PAP 2–6.75″, Drilling angle 10–90°, VAL 10–90°, Pin buffer 0.5–4″. Dragging a marker recomputes those four numbers (same clamps). Selected extras: scale 0.6–2.2×, rotate −180–180°. Undo / redo keep 40 drafts. Delete selected, bring to front, toggle grid snap (default on in DataStore).
Share layout sheet sends plain text (subject “Layout sheet — {name}”). Disc PNG writes cache/share/pinorbit-{name}.png via FileProvider and the “Share disc map” chooser. Sheet detail also shares CSV (text/csv).
Metric chips open glossary entries: Pin–PAP → PAP, Drill → Mass bias, VAL → VAL, Buffer → Pin buffer, Flare → Flare. Flare score mixes shorter pin-to-PAP, lower drill angle, and the ball’s total differential (boost clamped 0.4–1.2 from diff / 0.06). Labels: High flare (≥0.68), Mid flare (≥0.42), Low flare.
High: “Core stands up early — expect a strong, continuous move on medium oil.” Mid: “Balanced roll window. Benchmark shape through the mids.” Low: “Length first, quieter breakpoint — control or burnt heads.”
Onboarding page two: rose, amber, and teal bands flag thin pin walls, tight thumb clearance, and after-drill static risk — before the bit touches coverstock. The disc paints those rings at 1.0″ / 1.6″ / 2.4″ from the pin.
Terms in the app: flare cues and static-balance warnings are educational color bands, not a certification that a drilled ball will pass a league check. Always verify pin buffer, hole sizes, and static weight on the bench.
Pin buffer under 0.85″ — “Thin pin wall… coverstock wall may blow when the bit kisses the pin.” Hole clearance under 1.0″ — “Hole crowds the pin.” Static risk over 0.95 — “After-drill weight risk… top/side weight may fail USBC static check after drill.” Summary: “Hold the bit — {label}.”
Buffer 0.85–1.35″ — “Tight pin buffer… legal, but leave extra stock and skip a large thumb.” Clearance 1.0–1.6″ — “Close thumb-to-pin… mark the pin before you chuck the ball.” Static 0.62–0.95 — “Watch statics… Balance hole or a lighter thumb slug.” Summary: “Shop-ready with a caution.”
Buffer ≥ 1.35″ — “Pin buffer clear… shop-safe band for a standard thumb.” Clearance ≥ 1.6″ — “Hole clearance OK.” Lower static risk — “Statics look legal… inside league static-balance limits.” Summary: “Legal drill window — pin, thumb, and statics all clear.”
Static risk = hole-mass sum × 0.45, plus 0.35 if the MB is under 1.1″ from center on an asymmetrical ball. Hole mass uses 1.15 / (0.55 + distance from CG).
Library subtitle: five shop maps with geometry already filled — tap a card, apply to the bench. Terms: these recipes are starting maps for medium oil; adjust them to the bowler in front of you. Strong filter includes Strong Continuous and Flip Hybrid. Empty filter copy names all five recipes. Detail: Apply to workbench, Preferred ball spec.

Compare maps: pick a left and right sheet. Each column shows name, mini disc, zone, flare label, pin-to-PAP, drill/VAL. Call copy: if one flare score beats the other by more than 0.12 it is named the stronger oil-ring walker; if they sit close, pick the map whose VAL keeps the pin farther from the thumb.
Hunt the kit searches recipes (name + rationale + key), balls (name + cover + notes, optional SYM/ASYM), bowlers (name + club + archetype), and glossary. Empty: “Nothing in that lane.”

PAP — Positive Axis Point. Dual-angle layouts start here. Typical one-hand near 5″ × 1″.
VAL — Vertical Axis Line through the PAP. Low VAL (20–30°) parks the pin nearer the thumb. High VAL (60–70°) kicks the pin toward the fingers and tames flare.
Pin buffer — Distance from pin to nearest hole. Shops treat under 1″ as thin-wall risk. 1¼–3″ is the comfortable band.
Mass bias — Preferred spin-axis marker on an asym. Drilling angle is at the pin between pin-to-PAP and pin-to-MB. Larger angles usually add length.
Flare potential — How far oil rings walk. Shorter pin-to-PAP, stronger total differential, and a lower VAL all raise flare.
Sym vs asym — Sym cores wait on the layout. Asym cores already want to roll. Polyester spare maps are mostly cosmetic.

Room file pinorbit.db. Prefs store pinorbit_prefs. Manifest has no INTERNET permission. FileProvider authority {package}.files, cache/share only.
Privacy (in-app): offline dual-angle studio. Stores PAP cards, ball specs, recipes, and the live draft in Room. Theme, onboarding, snap, and widget snapshot in DataStore. No accounts, no ads network, no analytics or crash SDKs, no upload of layouts/photos/contacts, no location tracking. Sheets leave the device only when you tap Share. Uninstalling deletes the local database. Privacy contact line: questions belong with the shop or team that installed the kit on a shared device.
Terms: teaching and pro-shop planning tool — not a substitute for a certified layout technician, USBC equipment specs, or the person holding the drill press. Provided as-is for offline use. Do not rely on it as the only record of a paid layout job — export the sheet if you need a paper trail.
If a disc marker will not drag, a share sheet does not open, or a safe-zone band looks wrong for the pin buffer you measured, write the developer. Name the sheet, the bowler and ball, and whether you were on Bench, Library, Fit, or Studio. There is no in-app chat and no account — mail is the channel. The in-app terms already say the color bands are educational, not a league pass.

PAP is clamped onto a 4.25″ radius ball. The pin is offset from PAP by pin-to-PAP at (90° − VAL). MB sits 3.375″ from the pin along the pin–PAP heading plus the drilling angle. Thumb is placed from the pin at the pin-buffer distance on a fixed heading offset. Fingers are constructed from PAP. Locked markers stay locked; palette extras (balance hole, flare ring, oil line) survive slider updates.
A 0–1 score from shorter pin-to-PAP, a smaller drilling angle, and the ball’s total differential. High (≥0.68) expects a strong continuous move on medium oil. Mid is a balanced benchmark window.
